Versatile, High Performance

Because Magboard is structural, non combustible, water resistant, mold resistant, termite resistant strong and impact resistant, Magboard can be used in a variety of indoor and outdoor applications and assemblies. It comes in standard 4x8 and 4x9 sheets with thicknesses ranging from 1/4 to ¾ inch. Magboard can be used as a replacement for: OSB, plywood, cement board, gypsum based sheathing products and drywall in many uses.

Safe To Use

Magboard has no silicates. Its basic ingredient, Magnesium Oxide, is a naturally occurring material and is non toxic. Magboard is an inert product qualified for use in hyper-allergenic and clean room applications. Like most construction materials, precaution should be taken for dust when cutting Magboard. Otherwise, Magboard has no special requirements for use.

Easy To Install And Finish

Magboard can be used in most construction on wood frame, metal frame and SIP panel assemblies. Magboard is installed using methods and tools common to OSB. It can be cut with circular or reciprocating saws. Unlike cement board, it won’t damage blades. In backer board thicknesses, Magboard can be scored and snapped like drywall. On direct to stud applications, Magboard can be attached with, nails, screws, or staples. Magboard’s chemical composition is slightly alkaline and doesn’t affect fasteners, although the use of galvanized materials is recommended. Because Magboard was engineered for strength and fire resistance, it is slightly heavier than drywall although lighter than cement board.

Traditional finishes such as paint, stucco, textures, as well as adhesives work extremely well with MagBoard. Magboard is certified by the National Tile Council for use as a silicate fee backer board using traditional installation methods. Wall preparation for paint or texturing can be done easily with common materials. Magboard’s water, fire and mold resistance can eliminate many of the incremental material and subcontractor cost of protecting existing products so time and cost to finish can be reduced. Environmentally Friendly: Green Building at a Lower Cost

Magnesium Oxide is among the most abundant minerals on the planet. Magboard is completely recyclable and there are no special requirements for waste disposal. Because it is cured at room temperatures during manufacturing, its carbon footprint is lower than cement board or drywall. The life cycle performance of Magboard, the reduction in construction materials, and leaving forests intact make Magboard good for the builder, good for the customer and good for the environment.
